These are some of the most common questions that we get asked. But every situation is unique, so this information is general and shouldn’t be relied upon.

Should I Incorporate my Business?

The answer to this is almost always ‘it depends’. While the level of income your business brings in is a factor to consider, it isn’t the only factor. For example: how much cash do you reinvest in your business? If you’re spending all of the net income from your business personally each year, then you probably won’t see any tax advantages from incorporating, regardless of income level. On the other hand, if liability is a concern then you might have non-financial reasons to incorporate. My Business operates in another province. Can you still help me?

Absolutely! We have clients located in different areas across Canada. Taxes are mostly federally administered, so the differences across each province are minimal (with the exception of Quebec). We regularly file GST, HST, and PST returns and have experience filing both corporate and personal tax returns in other provinces.

I want to do some or all of my bookkeeping myself; can you help me get set up and going?

Sure! We provide a bookkeeping set up starter package which you can get details on here. You can also hire our bookkeeping team for consulting on an hourly basis, at a rate of $65 per hour so that you can get specific help with whatever you need.

Yes. However, we believe that the best bookkeeping system is the one that works best for you. For that reason, we limit our bookkeeping services – because we want to match you with the right bookkeeper, whether they are on our team or someone that you hire independently. Either way, we can help you get matched with the right person.

Which bookkeeping software should I use?

Do you do cross-border (US or International) taxes?

Sadly, no. While we do work with companies that sell products outside of Canada, we don’t file US or international tax returns.
